Reach Beyond with PALFINGER as a Certified Customs Specialist to oversee tariffs, customs compliance, and international trade activities across our North American business. In this role, you will analyze and interpret tariff regulations, ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian import/export requirements, and identify opportunities to optimize customs processes and reduce costs. You will serve as a key advisor on customs matters, working closely with brokers, government authorities, and internal stakeholders to support efficient cross-border operations. This position is ideal for a trade compliance professional who thrives in a complex regulatory environment and enjoys driving operational excellence.

Your Responsibilities

  • Analyze and classify products according to Harmonized System (HS) codes to ensure accurate tariff classifications and customs compliance.
  • Monitor changes in international trade laws and customs regulations while ensuring compliance with local, national, and international requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce tariffs, customs duties, and other trade-related costs while improving operational efficiency.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain import/export documentation, declarations, and customs records.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with customs brokers, customs authorities, and internal stakeholders while supporting audits, risk mitigation efforts, and customs compliance training.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of customs operations, tariff management, or related experience.
  • Certification in customs compliance or a related discipline, such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).
  • Certification as a USMCA Specialist or USMCA Professional.
  • Experience with trade agreements, duty drawback programs, and customs compliance processes.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariff codes, and international trade laws, supported by excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
